Firing-Firing is laying a hot iron on a area of an animal that is inflamed. Poeple think that this causes the pain and swealing to go down but it causes open wounds and extreme pain.
Battery acid on wounds-This causes a lot of pain to the animal and owners think that this will dry out the open wounds it acually causes the healing process to stop.

Beating to steer an animal-
Because of poverty animal owners often cannot afford to buy a harness for any of their animals. So, to steer them when they are pulling carts to carry things, they strike them with sticks on the sides of their heads and body. This is not only painful but can also cause nasty wounds and abscesses.

 Slitting nostrils-
This tradition is most commonly used in tunisia. People believe that by slitting the nostril of a donkey, horse or mule the animal will be able to breath better and so work harder. This is not the case. It causes great pain and in some cases infections.

Drugs- they are fed drugs to make them fatter faster, and to keep them alive so that when they are in harsh conditions they can stay alive.

Some ways of neglect- starvation, dehydration,parasite infestations,also having a collar grow under an animals skin, no shelter in extreme weather that is not suitable for any animal, and also no vet visits or any medicalattention.
